Orient Islamic School is more than just a place of learning—it’s a community that nurtures
both the mind and the soul. What makes it special for me is its deep-rooted Islamic values,
combined with academic excellence, creating an environment where students grow with strong
character and faith. The school fosters a sense of belonging where friendships are built on
shared principles, and Islamic teachings are seamlessly woven into everyday life. It’s a
place that has shaped my identity, strengthened my connection to my faith, and given me
lifelong memories and lessons beyond the classroom.
Generational ties:
My connection spans generations-my father taught here, and my uncle, brothers, cousins, and
husband were all learners here at some stage.
Now, my three children and nephews proudly continue this legacy, a testament to the
deep-rooted connection and values OIS has instilled in our family. Both my sons became
Huffaaz under OIS Hifz Madressa, reflecting the school’s lasting influence on our family’s
journey.
Year matriculated: 2000
Current Role: Medical Doctor (Private General Practitioner/GP and Director
of a medical weight management clinic)
The Orient Islamic School (OIS) holds a special place in my heart, evoking fond memories
whenever I drive past, attend meetings or functions, or come to the Musalla for salaah.
OIS has left an indelible mark on my life, and I feel truly fortunate to have been among the
few who completed their entire schooling journey here, from Class 1 to Matric.
I am deeply grateful to the world-class educators who not only imparted knowledge but also
instilled in me values that continue to guide me in everyday life. It is inspiring to see
how the school has evolved over the years, making significant strides in both academic and
sporting achievements.
Each year, we eagerly anticipate the Matric results of OIS learners, and it is always
encouraging to see how well they perform on a national level in South Africa.
It is my fervent prayer that the school continues to grow from strength to strength,
posthumously honouring its founding fathers.
