Why Orient Islamic School FP?
The age of seven is the period of rapid learning and growth in a child’s development. As they
navigate their growing understanding of the world, Orient Islamic School Foundation Phase is
there to hold their hands and guide them to unlocking their full potential.
Our Foundation Phase team consists of highly skilled educators who are driven, nurturing and
passionate about our united goal to provide every child with a holistic learning experience.
Whilst we are CAPS aligned, our program goes over and above to ensure that learners are taught
to think critically and are given ample opportunities to explore, discover, experiment and
collaborate. We combine traditional learning methods with technological advancements, encourage
group work and incorporate differentiation into our lessons to cater for children with different
learning styles and abilities. Research has emphasised the little impact that homework provides
for smaller children and in the fast paced world we live in, we find that there is much needed
opportunities for children to be children. Therefore we have a no-written homework policy until
mid-Grade 3 that affords our children time to play and spend quality time with their families
after school.
We boast a specialised Coding and Robotics Lab that, alongside interactive lessons, is
instrumental in propelling our young learners into the world of coding; a vast library that
keeps their love for reading burning; a Maker-Space Room that pushes the boundaries of their
creativity and exploration; and an Adventure Zone that keeps them leaping from milestone to
milestone.
In addition, our learners enjoy a vast sporting program that provides ample room to hone the
skills of both boys and girls. Lessons within the school day are structured to target key areas
of their development and gross motor skills. Additional sporting codes are offered according to
the sports season as part of the school program. This includes a Learn to Swim program, Soccer
Skills Development and a Cricket Skills Program, as well as a Funletics Day which builds their
abilities and confidence.
Our Islamiaat curriculum is designed to lay a solid foundation for the love of Islam and an
understanding of our Creator and the fundamental principles of our religion. Our Quraan program
offers small-group support thus allowing children to progress at their own pace.
We believe in fostering attitudes of kindness, respect and generosity within our learners that
is guided by the Sunnah - something that underpins our entire program. We frequently host
various initiatives to create mindful, purposeful acts of kindness to build habits that will
last a lifetime. At Orient Islamic School, developing character traits that embody humanity is
essential in protecting our future. Whilst it is necessary to leave a beautiful world for our
children, it is equally necessary that we nurture beautiful children for our world!

Our learners engage in a vibrant school life with clubs like Debate, Science, Robotics and more.
Our active network includes our board members, Mothers Committee, Parents Committee and more. .
An integral part of our schooling community includes: Prefects, LRC, Peer Promoters, Islamiyaat Head, etc.
To help and enhance others through community driven programmes. We work together to create a bright future.
