Department of Hifz ul Quraan

About the Hifz Department

The Hifz Department was established under the guidance of Marhoom Moulana Abdul Haq Omarjee, Marhoom Moulana Abdul Raheem Khan and Marhoom Yacoob Patel with the privitisation of OIS in the 1998..

Since its establishment in 1998, the Hifz Department at Orient Islamic School has been committed to the noble pursuit of preserving the Qur’an in the hearts of our learners. Under the leadership of Moulana Ahmed Mahomedy, the department has flourished and nurtured a generation of dedicated and disciplined Hufaaz.

With a deep focus on sincerity, accuracy, and consistency, the department provides a structured yet spiritually uplifting environment for students embarking on this sacred journey. Over the years, many learners have successfully completed their Hifz under the guidance of our experienced and devoted Ustaads.

Our first graduation took place in 2002 with six learners having completed their Hifz.

A large Jalsa was held at Orient Islamic School and the guest of honour that graced this historic occasion was Moulana Abdul Haq Omarjee rahimahullah, one of the senior most Ulama of South Africa.

Subsequently many Huffaaz graduated and Orient Islamic School takes pride in displaying the names of the graduates on the Huffaaz Honours Board at the main entrance of the campus.

Our teaching staff includes:
• Moulana Huzaifah Karodia
• Moulana Naazim Maiter
• Hafiz Aslam Desai

Each Ustaad brings a wealth of knowledge, patience, and a passion for Qur’anic memorisation, ensuring that each student is guided with individual attention and care.

At the Hifz Class we try to the best of our ability to inspire, nurture and develop young hearts that carry the Qur’an with love, integrity, and a deep commitment to living its teachings — becoming role models for the Ummah through their character and conduct.

Mission:
• To provide a spiritually enriching and academically sound environment for Hifz students.
• To instill discipline, sincerity, and consistency in the memorisation and revision of the Qur’an.
• To develop well-rounded individuals who balance Qur’anic knowledge with strong moral values and academic excellence.
• To uphold the highest standards of Tajweed and ensure accurate preservation of the divine message.
