QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
• Higher Diploma in Education
• Honours in Educational Management

EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:
• 30 years in Education. 12 years in Management.
• Served as an educator in the public sector for 12 years. Joined the private sector at the Al Azhar School of Durban as the Head of Department, Intermediate Phase. After serving 4 years in this position, went on to become the Deputy and then Principal of the school in 2013. Resigned in 2016 to pursue other career opportunities. Then joined Orient Islamic School in 2017.Appointed as Head of Department, Foundation Phase in 2020.Thereafter, appointed as Head of Department, Intermediate Phase in 2022. Served one year in this position. Currently serving as Deputy Principal, Primary School.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversees curriculum development, Student affairs: inclusive of wellness, discipline and leadership, Sporting Programmes, Outreach, Mentorship and evaluation of educators, and administrative tasks.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY:
‘Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.’ My advice to every educator is that what you would want for your own child is what you must give to very child sitting in your classroom.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS/CONTRIBUTIONS:
Creation of the Anthology of Poetry called “An Expression of Thought “ penned by the Orient learners. Serves on the Wellness Committee which is committed to the wellbeing of educators and learners.

FUN FACTS:
Love spending time with my children. Enjoys reading and some quiet time in the Drakensberg mountains to collect one’s thoughts and rejuvenate, especially after a hectic term.
